DESCRIPTION

Let the UPC Games Begin—Jurisdictional Shenanigans or Innocent Growing Pain?

The Unified Patent Court advertises itself as a single court, but early turf squabbles between the Central Division courts and the Local Division courts suggest otherwise. Some even say that the Central Division courts are putting their stamp of approval on jurisdiction shopping that favors Central Division courts. And based on the behavior of the litigation parties, they seem to believe that jurisdiction shopping is a path to victory. So what's really going on at the UPC, and what can we expect in the future? Watch and find out.

Steve Carlson, Robins Kaplan LLP
