DESCRIPTION

2025 Oklahoma Access to Justice Summit: Rethinking Rural Legal Access

Oklahomans in rural communities face additional challenges when it comes to accessing justice based solely upon their geographic location. Nearly two-thirds of Oklahoma counties have fewer than 1.5 lawyers per 1,000 residents, leaving many Oklahomans with the option of traveling long distances to access legal help or forego any legal help. This panel of practitioners and community providers will discuss their experiences in legal deserts, highlight effective strategies in assisting rural Oklahomans, and make recommendations on how to bridge the rural justice gap in Oklahoma.
